Treatment
Osteopathy can help with a range of conditions when the cause is mechanical or soft tissue in origin. Other conditions not normally considered as having a mechanical cause may also respond to osteopathic treatment. Through massage, movement and manipulation, your Osteopath will work to rebalance the structure and function of the body, not simply treating the presenting problem but looking holistically at all the factors that have contributed towards your symptoms. Treatment will aim to relieve pain, improve function and promote healing. It will also help to reduce the likelihood of the problem recurring. Your osteopath will explain their findings to you, so you can understand why your body has not been healing of its own accord.
As part of your treatment protocol, you may be given advice on posture, hot and cold therapy, Kinseio tape may be administered to support affected areas and/or you may be prescribed exercises to do at home.

On occasion you may feel temporary soreness after receiving Osteopathic treatment. A reaction is quite normal though as your body responds to the treatment. Any discomfort shouldn't last longer than 24 hours and treatment reactions lessen with each subsequent treatment. If you are in any doubt as to how you are feeling, please contact your Osteopath.

An Osteopath's patients include the young, mature people, manual workers, office professionals, pregnant women, children and sports people. For an average problem adults may require up to three or four treatments whilst babies may require up to two or three treatments. If there is a complex problem then it may take longer. The osteopath will review your progress at each subsequent visit and seek your consent for any changes to your treatment plan.
